A copy of the Dhammapada has been officially installed to the Despatch Box on the central table in front of the Prime Minister. This adds the one of the holy Buddhist books to other holy books such as the Bible, the Koran and the Torah. The Tibetan Buddhist Society’s new temple was officially opened on Saturday 6th June 2009. The opening was attended by the leader of the opposition Mr Eric Ripper and other dignitaries.
On the Eve of Vesak Day 2009, Radio Fremantle broadcast a live 30 minute interview featuring Vesak Day observations in Perth. The radio presenter was Derek Cusick and the BCWA were represented by Jake and Kate.
The first BCWA meeting with Hon Minister John Castrilli focussed on visa issues for monks. The BCWA were represented by president Mr Stewart Jarvis, Ajahn Brahm and two other delgates.
The huge Jhana Grove Meditation Centre opened on 10th April 2009 with a huge turnout with many guests including former WA Premier Geoff Gallop.
