BCWA President’s Marlene Robins speech on VegRun 2022

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we are meeting on, the Whadjuk people. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.

Welcome to our special guests

On behalf of the committee, members and friends of the Buddhist Council of WA I would firstly like to congratulate BLIA on this wonderful initiative, continuing to make us aware of vegetarianism and the need to plant trees.

We welcome this “You walk. We plant trees” to Western Australia and BCWA are honoured to support and be a part of this great initiative.
This Charity Run will keep us healthy and enhance physical fitness together with promoting the love of earth, planting trees and environmental issues.
Let us together make walking and running not only a sport, but an environmental protection and earth-friendly action!

A tree is a wonderful living organism which gives food, shelter, warmth and protection to all living things. It even gives shade to those who wield an axe to cut it down”

(As Marlene Robins was unable to attend, this speech was read on her behalf by Jake Mitra, Vice-Presicent of BCWA)
